History of the Armutlu springs
According to the Armutlu District Governorship, the first thermal bath in Armutlu was built in the Byzantine period, and the springs have been used ever since. The historic bath in the hot-springs area is among the registered buildings still in use. The Armutlu hot springs are about 5 km from the town centre.
Thermal Yalova: the Termal district and Armutlu
“Yalova thermal springs” usually refers to one of two separate places. The Termal springs are in the Termal district, 12 km from Yalova city centre, in a valley on the slopes of the Samanlı Mountains. The Culture and Tourism Directorate notes that Atatürk often came to Termal to rest. Armutlu is a separate district on the Gulf of Gemlik, with its own springs.
